The La District Court has for a second time remanded a final-year student at O’Reilly Senior High School (SHS), who fatally stabbed a classmate.
The deceased, Edward Borketey Sackey was murdered by a classmate after a disagreement over who had wealthier parents.
The student, whose name has been withheld, had been provisionally charged with murder.
He was on September 6 remanded two weeks into Police custody and re-appeared on September 19, 2024.
But the case was rescheduled to Friday, September 20 over the uncertainty of the accused’s age, prompting demands for a medical report to determine their true age.
Chief Inspector Paul Osei Adjei who was holding the brief for the main prosecutor requested a week’s extension to obtain the medical report but the judge Adwoa Benaso Asumadu-Sakyi denied the plea.
However, the court on Friday has been able to establish that the accused is 19-years-old.
The case has been adjourned to two weeks.
