One person is in critical condition after fire ravaged a three-bedroom house in Damongo in the Savannah Region.
According to the Municipal Fire Command, they received a distress call at about 09:18 am on Thursday from Azura Kura, a suburb of Damongo.
Firefighters quickly rushed to the scene, but the fire had already engulfed the building, trapping one person inside.
They worked tirelessly to rescue the victim, a male adult, who sustained burns on parts of his body and was rushed to the Damongo District Hospital.
The fire crew also prevented a possible explosion of two gas cylinders, which could have caused more devastation to adjoining structures.
Municipal Fire Commander ADO1 Philip Okuma told Adom News that the fire was caused by an overloaded socket in one of the rooms.
Together with the Regional Fire Commander, ACFO Emmanuel Ofori Adjei, they urged residents to ensure all electronic devices are switched off and unplugged before leaving home to prevent such incidents.
