One dead in violent clash between NDC and NPP over fertilizer distribution

-

Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) clashed in the Offinso North Constituency over fertilizer distribution in Akomadan.

The incident stemmed from a promise by Fred Gyei Asamoah, the NPP’s newly-elected Member of Parliament for the constituency, to distribute fertilizers to local farmers after the elections.

The fertilizers had been brought to the area before the polls, with plans to distribute them once the election results were finalized.

On Monday, around 8 a.m., a group of NDC supporters gathered at the Akomadan Cocoa Shell, demanding that the NPP party executives release the fertilizers.

They insisted the fertilizers were intended for farmers and should not be distributed along political lines.

The situation quickly escalated into violence, tragically resulting in the death of one individual, suspected to be an NDC supporter.

Authorities have launched an investigation as tensions remain high in the constituency.
