Okere MP condemns ORAL and Basintale’s appointment [Video]

The Member of Parliament for the Okere constituency, Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth, has attributed the current acts of vandalism and hooliganism to the establishment of the ORAL and the appointment of Malik Basintale.

His comments come after a new trend where youth, purported to be NDC supporters, invade offices to take over in the name of the NDC government.

Speaking on Burning Issues, the MP stated that the establishment of Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) and the appointment of Malik Basintale to oversee the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is the highest form of endorsing vigilantism.

This is because Basintale had incited the youth to take over offices right after John Dramani Mahama’s victory as president. Despite this, he has now been appointed to a government position.

“The establishment of ORAL is the highest form of endorsing vigilantism. I mean, look at the embarrassment. If you claim to be a fact-finding group, do you go around taking other people’s properties?” he said.

“Malik Basintale was inciting the youth to take over offices, but he has been awarded an appointment as the head of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), and that is another form of endorsing vigilantism,” Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth added.

The MP also shared a personal experience: “I was slapped by my best friend because of the elections, but I took it calmly and approached his uncle about it.

He later realized his mistake and apologized. So, what I’m saying is that if those who get attacked decide to fight back, it won’t end well. That’s why the police should be professional after the elections.”
