Okada riders, police clash at Awutu Breku

Two commercial motor riders known in local parlance as ‘okada riders’ sustained injuries when they clash with the police at Awutu Breku in the Central region.
According to reports, the altercation begun when the two failed to stop at a check point after the police had had distress call of an armed robber attack at a stone quarry site at Bosom- Abena on the Awutu Breku-Bontrase road around 10 pm.

In an attempt to stop the, one police officer was said to have hit one of the okada riders with a bottle and in retaliation he [okada rider] damaged the police patrol car with registration number GP 4636.
Adom News’ Kofi Adjei who followed the story said, the three police officers mistook the okada riders to the robbers and assualted them for not stopping and damaging their car.

He said one of the okada riders who managed to escape went to call his colleagues who attacked the officers and vandalised their car.

He said the police had to fire warning shots to dispell the angry mob who were attempting to burn down the police station.
Kofi Adjei noted that, one of the police officers and okada driver sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
