Official: Prosper Narteh Ogum leaves Asante Kotoko after poor second stint

-

Asante Kotoko have officially parted ways with head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, the club confirmed in a statement released on Monday, April 21, 2025.

According to the release, the decision was made “following constructive discussions between both parties, with a shared understanding that it is in the best interest of the club at this time.”

Ogum’s exit comes on the heels of Kotoko’s 2-0 defeat to Nations FC on Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Stadium—a result that marked the team’s second consecutive loss.

The Porcupine Warriors are now winless in their last four Ghana Premier League outings.

Kotoko currently sit fourth on the league table with 47 points—six points behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.

So far this season, the team has managed 13 wins, 8 draws, and 7 losses, scoring 28 goals and conceding 21, averaging 1.68 points per game.

Ogum, who previously guided Kotoko to the Ghana Premier League title in 2022, returned to the club in July 2023 for a second stint.

He led the team to a sixth-place finish last season, collecting 49 points—12 fewer than eventual champions FC Samartex 1996.

“We urge our supporters to remain calm and continue to support the club during this transition. Further updates will be communicated in due course,” the statement concluded.

Kotoko will aim to bounce back when they face Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Matchday 29 this Sunday.
