Official: Gladson Awako rejoins Great Olympics

Great Olympics has officially announced the re-signing of midfielder, Gladson Awako, who recently parted ways with rivals, Hearts of Oak.

The 33-year-old is known for his skill and leadership qualities on the pitch, has made a return to Great Olympics on a free transfer as they gear up for the second half of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

Awako’s reunion with the two-time Premier League champions follows his departure from Hearts of Oak, with whom he initially joined in August 2021 amidst much debate and discussion between the two clubs.

The seasoned campaigner’s decision to rejoin his former club is anticipated to inject a significant dose of experience and talent into the Great Olympics squad.

With a decorated career that has seen him captain the Black Satellites and represent Ghana across various national teams, Awako brings with him a wealth of experience both domestically and internationally.

His journey in football has seen him ply his trade with clubs such as Hearts of Lions, Wa All Stars, Brekum Chelsea, Don Bosco, Phoenix Rising in the USA, and Recreativo Huelva in Spain.

Additionally, he has previously featured for TP Mazambe.

Currently positioned 12th in the league standings, Great Olympics have set their sights on leveraging Awako’s expertise to climb up the table and mount a formidable challenge for success in the remaining fixtures of the season.

The inclusion of the 2009 U-20 World Cup winner is poised to significantly bolster the team’s midfield prowess and elevate their overall performance on the field.
