The New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications directorate in the Odoben Brakwa constituency in the Central region are accusing some youth of extortion which led to attacks on some constituency executives.

A statement, issued by the party, said some young hooligans attacked constituency officers who were going about their duty at Breman Jamera in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa district.

“The suspects had taken the laws into their own hands and were collecting road toll from drivers who ply the Jamera-Toboase road.

“Mr Bruce Dompson, Constituency chairman questioned those young men under whose mandate they were collecting the toll when he got to the point; he tried to find out if the district assembly was aware but this woke the apes in the thugs as they went on a rage of attacks on the executives,” it said.

According to the party, their checks revealed the young men were sent to cause mayhem at a meeting between the Member of Parliament, Anthony Effa and the constituency executives.

“We are by this press statement urging the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa police command to dig into the incident as a matter of urgency to bring the perpetrators to book.

“The era of hit and run is over. The era of shielding criminals is extinct. The time for development in peace and security is what all must embrace under the reign of Nana Addo,” the party said.
