The immediate past Managing Director of Ghana Post Company Limited, Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, has refuted claims of irregularities in the recruitment of workers under his tenure.
According to him, the previous management acted in good faith and followed all due processes in hiring staff.
His remarks follow the termination of about 100 workers’ appointments by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Mr. George disclosed that almost 600 staff recruited into the ministry and its agencies after the 2024 elections are under review, with nearly 100 already dismissed and more expected to go.
Reacting to the development in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Obour explained that Ghana Post operates in a way that necessitates annual recruitments to replace retirees.
He clarified that, unlike other state institutions, Ghana Post does not require financial clearance to hire workers.
“Government made it a company limited, making it independent, so we pay our workers and do not rely on the Controller and Accountant General’s Department or the Consolidated Fund. So, we don’t need financial clearance for recruitment.
