Obimpeh’s ‘campaign cash comment’ Kwaku Ananse story – Yamoah Ponkoh

-

Former Chief Executive of Ejisu-Juabeng Municipal Assembly, Yamoah Afrifa Ponkoh, has described as Kwaku Ananse story claims by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Obimpeh that he did not receive money for the 2016 campaign.

Earlier, there were claims that former President Mahama will drop names of functional executive committee members whom he gave money for the 2016 campaign which ended up in individual pockets.

The issue fueled suspicions within the party after several accusations that some executives of the party have embezzled funds meant to run the campaign.

Based on this backdrop, the Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman revealed on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen prgramme that the money he received woefully inadequate

He explained that, out of the 47 constituencies in Ashanti Region, he only received just 17 constituencies as campaign funds during the 2016 December polls.

But Mr Yamoah Ponkoh in a rebuttal described the claim as a ‘folk tale’ adding that funds were given to the regional executives for the campaign.

He indicated that, claims by Chairman Obimpeh is part of face-saving efforts by some executives who contibuted to their humiliating defeat.

“This is serious. It is ridiculous. It is unheard of. This is a folk tale. So what was he coordinating? What was he managing? What resources was he using to manage those affairs? If you have given me work to do, I will live up to the task and resources and everything must be available to me to perform up to the task because I will give answers. Do you know what being a national coordinator means? I think it’s just a Kwaku Ananse story …” he fumed.

“Was he having cars? Was he buying fuel? We have lost the elections and executives are finding means to hide their faces from ridicule” he said to Neat FM on Tuesday.
