O’ Reilly SHS murder case: Prosecutions forward docket to Attorney-General

The Police prosecutors handling the murder case involving the O’Reilly Senior High School (SHS) student have forwarded the docket to the Attorney-General.

The prosecution led by Chief Inspector Paul Osei Adjei informed the La District Court presided over by Adwoa Benaso Asumadu-Sakyi, of this development when the case was called today(Oct 7).

With this latest development, Attorney-General is expected to write and file at the District Court an allegation of the crime, called a bill of indictment which serves as the charge sheet of the case.

This will enable the District Court to now commence the committal proceedings where the Magistrate will determine whether there is sufficient reason for the accused person to stand trial at the High Court on the charge recommended by the Attorney-General.

Meanwhile, the accused, Godwin Mawuli has been remanded for two weeks to re-appear on October 21 this year.

The presiding judge advised the accused to make a request for legal representation before the next adjourned date.

Background 

Edward Borketey Sackey, a general arts student of the school was allegedly murdered by the accused after a disagreement after an examination on campus.

A viral video shared on social media showed the victim in an unconscious posture lying on a white cloth on the floor.

Other videos showed the victim being conveyed to the hospital by his colleagues.
