Nungua shooting incident: Case adjourned to await ballistic report

-

The Teshie Nungua District Court ‘2’ has adjourned the case involving the fatal shooting of Lawrencia Naa Borley Nelson, popularly known as Naa Gamu, to May 7, 2025.

The adjournment follows a request from the prosecution for more time to conclude investigations and await a ballistic report, which is expected to play a key role in the case.

This development comes after a previous adjournment on March 26, which was due to the judge’s absence.

Meanwhile, the Accra High Court on April 9 dismissed a bail application filed by lawyers for the prime suspect, Samuel Adjei. Adjei faces charges of unlawful possession of firearms and murder, though his plea is yet to be taken.

Police have indicated that they are preparing a duplicate docket for submission to the Attorney General’s Department for legal advice.

Adjei was arrested in connection with the tragic shooting of Naa Gamu, who was the queen mother of the Ga Adangme Muslim Union.

She was struck in the thigh by a musket reportedly discharged as part of traditional rites during her enstoolment ceremony at Nungua, leading to her death.
