Ntim Fordjour demands commission of inquiry into suspicious flights saga

-

Assin South Member of Parliament (MP), Rev John Ntim Fordjour, is calling for the establishment of a commission of inquiry to investigate two suspicious flights allegedly linked to drug trafficking and money laundering in Ghana.

Rev Fordjour, who serves as the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, made the call in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

His demand follows remarks by Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Twum Barimah, who urged the MP to cooperate with ongoing investigations. Speaking in an interview on Joy News, Mr. Barimah noted that Rev Fordjour’s cooperation would be vital to apprehending those allegedly involved in the matter.

However, the MP has questioned the credibility of NACOC, alleging that the Commission withdrew from a joint security meeting related to the issue.

He also accused the agency of aiding the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications in disseminating what he described as misleading information.

“See one of the culprits of the staged and false evidence, calling for cooperation. Release footages of the CCTV system at the airport to support your claim of staged inspection and maintenance,” Rev Fordjour wrote in response, challenging NACOC’s account.

The allegations have deepened concerns surrounding the nature of the two flights, which the Minority in Parliament claims arrived from Gran Canaria carrying suspected illicit cargo. The matter has since sparked widespread public and diplomatic interest.

Reiterating his demand for transparency and accountability, Mr Fordjour insisted on the establishment of a commission of inquiry to thoroughly probe the allegations.

“We therefore call for a commission of inquiry to be established to probe into the matter. See you at the Commission of Inquiry,” he concluded.
