Ntim Fordjour demands accountability on missing ECG containers

-

The Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has called for full accountability regarding the missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers valued at over $700 million.

In a post on X, the Assin South Member of Parliament (MP) shared a letter from National Security requesting the evacuation of 706 ECG containers. The letter, dated March 2, 2025, was addressed to the Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA).

Rev. Fordjour raised concerns over whether these 706 containers could be part of the 1,340 containers that have been reported missing.

“Where are the missing ECG containers worth over $700 million? Could these 706 containers evacuated by National Security be part of the missing 1,340 containers?” he questioned.

He criticized the Energy Ministry for failing to disclose the National Security evacuation during previous briefings, calling it a serious communication lapse.

“How come we never heard about this so-called evacuation by National Security in any of the briefings provided by the Energy Minister thus far?” he wrote, demanding clearer explanations from the government.

“We need coherent answers. We need all the containers accounted for!” he asserted, urging urgent action to resolve the growing concerns surrounding the ECG container scandal.
