NSMQ2024: Walewale SHTS resurfaces at national championship stage

-

Walewale Senior High/Technical School is re-emerging on the national stage of the National Science and Maths Quiz after winning their regional qualifiers against their rivals.

The school has failed to book its seat at the national tournament for at least three years.

However, in a battle against their regular competitors, the school narrowly escaped defeat against Bunkpurugu SHS, Nakpanduri Business School, and Nalerigu SHS.

They won the contest with 34 points, while their closest contender, Bunkpurugu SHS, managed 29 points.

Describing themselves as scorpions and believing in their gentle but venomous abilities, Walewale Senior High/Technical School is ready to sting any school that dares to step on their tail.

No school, they say, will be an impediment to them in their quest for glory.

Damongo SHS, after beating Buipe SHS and Bole Secondary School, will be representing the Savannah region at the national tournament.

Damongo SHS

It was a smackdown between Damongo SHS and Buipe SHS as they faced off for a place at the nationals. However, the school from the regional capital proved not to be coequals, trampling on their contenders.

Meanwhile, in the last two contests for the Northern Region, Kalpohin SHS has been denied chances at the national championships for the second year running. The school was kicked out by Ghana Secondary School, Tamale.

Tolon SHS pulled an improved performance in this year’s regional qualification contest, following their 8-point win to the nationals in 2023.

The schools are hoping to make statements for the North with the anticipation of lifting their first trophy.
