The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Abura Asebu-Kwamankese, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for its poor track record in health infrastructure development.
During a debate on Accra-based Channel One TV’s on Wednesday, Mr Kwakye Ofosu pointed out the NPP’s failure to deliver on its Agenda 111 initiative, which aims to build hospitals across the country.
“When it comes to health infrastructure, they (NPP) fall short. None of the Agenda 111 hospitals has been completed. The 40 hospitals they mentioned are just small facilities, comparable to polyclinics,” he remarked.
In contrast, Kwakye Ofosu praised the NDC’s efforts under President Mahama, highlighting that by the time he left office, the party had constructed 20 polyclinics, opened over 1,200 Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, and established numerous health centres.
He also underscored the NDC’s success in delivering regional healthcare facilities.
“We opened regional hospitals. As it stands now, the NPP has not completed even one regional hospital” he stated.
