NPP’s Charles Forson beats Ebi Bright, declared MP-elect for Tema Central

-

Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been declared the Member of Parliament-elect for Tema Central following the completion of a final collation process ordered by the Accra High Court.

The final collation and declaration process were in line with the High Court’s directive, which compelled the Electoral Commission to conclude the collation of results from the two polling stations and recalculate the total votes for the constituency.

The declaration, made by Deputy Returning Officer Francis Twum, confirmed that results from 148 polling stations, including the two outstanding polling stations, gave Forson a narrow victory.

He secured 18,870 votes, edging out Ebi Bright of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 18,815 votes, a margin of 55 votes.

With this declaration, Tema Central’s parliamentary representation has been finalized, adding to the outcomes of the closely contested 2024 General Election.

Meanwhile, results are yet to be announced for the final 3 outstanding constituencies.
