NPP-UK Chairman condemns vote-buying as harmful to democracy

-

The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) UK branch, Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, has strongly criticized vote-buying practices, describing them as unethical and damaging to democracy.

Popularly known as Wofa K., he denounced the distribution of items such as televisions and refrigerators to influence voters, calling it “entirely unacceptable.”

He questioned the fairness of such actions, asking, “What about those who receive nothing? How do you expect them to feel or act?”

Wofa K. further cautioned that vote-buying creates unrealistic expectations among voters and undermines the integrity of elections.

“You cannot possibly cater to everyone, and this sets a dangerous precedent for democracy,” he said on Accra-based Net2 TV.

He emphasized the need to focus on policies and leadership qualities rather than material inducements in political campaigns.
