Member of Parliament for the Ellembelle Constituency, Emmanuel Kofi Buah, has accused the Akufo-Addo-led government of being responsible for the bad nature of roads at Nkroful in the Western Region.
According to the National Democratic Congress MP, the NPP government, after assuming power in 2017 terminated the road contract which had been awarded by his government prior to living office.

“It is not true that the contractor abandoned the road; indeed, the contractor was on-site for six months after the NDC awarded the contract but the NPP government terminated the contracts when he raised the first certificate for payment in January 2016 and threatened to leave if not paid.”
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, the legislator who commented on the demonstration by residents described the situation as worrying.

“To see chiefs in the area clad in T-shirts supporting the demonstration on Wednesday makes the situation worrying but I understand the pains of the people and hope the government will fix the roads,” he said.
Agitated residents of Nkroful on Wednesday embarked on a demonstration to protest the deplorable roads in the area.

The residents of the hometown of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, during the protest, threatened to boycott any national activity if the government does not heed to their request.
