Two constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Walewale, North-East Region, have been suspended effective immediately for what the party has described as gross misconduct.
Also, a party member has also been suspended for similar misconduct.
All three have been directed to hand over any party materials in their possession pending further investigations.
The suspension notice was issued by Fuseini Nurudeen, the party’s Regional Chairman.
This development follows a recent ruling by the High Court in Tamale, which ordered a re-run of the Walewale constituency parliamentary primary.
The court cited irregularities, impersonation, and over-voting as reasons for nullifying the previous election.
In light of the court’s decision, the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua announced on Monday afternoon that the party has scheduled the re-run.
The nomination period will open on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, and close on Thursday, September 5, with the election set to take place on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
