The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has assured the public that the party is fully prepared to cooperate with any state investigative body.
His statement follows the recent raid on the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, which has sparked controversy.
Addressing the press on Thursday, Mr. Boakye emphasized that NPP members, including former government officials and CEOs, are law-abiding citizens who will comply with any legal inquiry.
“We are ready to cooperate with any state institution, whether law enforcement or other investigative bodies,” he said.
“Our members and former officials will fully support any investigation. The NPP believes in the rule of law and is committed to transparency.”
However, he strongly condemned the raid on Ofori-Atta’s home, describing it as unfortunate and unacceptable.
“What happened at Mr. Ofori-Atta’s house is very unfortunate. We are not in the jungle, and such actions should not occur in a civilized society. This raid was uncalled for and unacceptable,” he said.
Mr. Boakye also criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for suggesting that the raid may have been staged based on intelligence gathered.
“To suggest that the incident was staged is simply outrageous. What kind of intelligence is the OSP gathering if they are making such claims without properly reviewing the evidence?”
He pointed to CCTV footage that, according to him, clearly showed uniformed individuals, with a man identified as Richard Jakpa leading the operation.
While reaffirming the NPP’s willingness to cooperate with investigations, Mr. Boakye maintained that the party would not tolerate any form of political victimization.
“We will not be subjected to any form of political harassment. Our commitment to the rule of law remains steadfast.”
