The New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s primaries are currently ongoing in 100 orphan constituencies across Ghana.
The elections started at 7:00am throughout the participating constituencies across the country and are expected to end at 5:00pm.
The exercise was expected to take place in 106 constituencies but six constituencies; Chereponi, Afadjato South, Karachi West, Kpando, Hohoe and Anlo are on hold following what the party says are compelling reasons.
Candidates elected in these ‘orphan constituencies’ will represent the party in the 2020 parliamentary election.
According to the party, Saturday’s election forms part of steps the NPP is taking to win some of those seats in the 2020 general election.
