NPP, NDC to establish Private Education Service

-

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have pledged to consider the establishment of a Private Education Service.

This service would regulate private education in Ghana, separate from the Ghana Education Service(GES).

This was contained in a statement issued by the Executive Director of the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah.

The statement explained the pledged follows concerns raised by Mr Gyetuah during Adom TV’s sectorial debate on education on Friday, August 16, 2024.

“Rev. Ntim Fordjour, Deputy Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency( NPP), stated: The NPP is committed to positioning private sector education in a collaborative approach. If voted into power, we will engage with private education sector players to ensure the establishment of the Private Education Service.

“Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, MP for Builsa South (NDC), stated: “The next NDC government will consider establishing the Private Education Service as a crucial conduit to oversee private education delivery in Ghana. We have already promised an inclusive government of education delivery, where private senior high schools will be part of the Free SHS policy,” the statement noted these were the responses of the party representatives.

GNACOPS in light of this has commended both parties for their commitment to supporting private education in Ghana.

“We look forward to working with them to establish a Private Education Service that will benefit all stakeholders in the education sector,” the statement added.

Sector debate provides a platform for the NPP and NDC to justify why Ghanaians should vote for them in the December 7 election at the Accra Digital Centre.

With the spotlight on a specific sector, representatives from the respective political parties

debate each other on the policies that have positively impacted the nation.
