The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed disappointment in the Electoral Commission (EC) for denying them accreditation to supervise the printing of ballot papers for the 2024 election.
The party stated that it cannot comprehend why the EC would grant agents of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) access to the printing center but decline access to its agents.
NPP Director of Election, Evans Nimako, raised these concerns in an interview on Adom FM Burning Issues with Akua Biakyewaa Yiadom.
“We are happy with the electoral processes so far, but our little concern has to do with not getting accreditation to the printing houses to supervise the printing,” he said.
He added that when the EC began printing the ballot papers, it wrote to all political parties, presidential aspirants, and independent candidates to nominate agents for authorization.
Though the NPP complied, they were surprised to see that the EC granted accreditation to the NDC but failed to do so for all the others.
Mr. Nimako noted that they expected the EC to adhere to its commitments without leaving any party or candidate out.
“If it were the NPP that received this accreditation to supervise it, the agents at the NDC would have made noise in the country. But we are okay; we have agents who report to us daily, and we trust the information they provide,” he stated.
