The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all members to seize campaign activities and focus on rebuilding following their defeat in the 2024 election.
In a statement, the Council said its attention has been drawn to active campaigns by certain party executives, members, and supporters advocating for individuals seeking positions at the constituency, regional, and national levels within the party.
According to the Council, such activities do not contribute to the NPP’s efforts to recover and strengthen itself and must be stopped immediately.
“We have overcome such challenges before, and with faith and determination, we can rise again,” the elders concluded, expressing confidence that the party will emerge stronger from this setback,” the statement signed by the Chairman, Hackman Owusu Agyemang noted.
Meanwhile, the NPP National Council has set up an Election Review Committee chaired by Professor Mike Oquaye to probe its defeat.
The committee will engage with party members, stakeholders, and the wider public over the next three months and will present a report with its findings and recommendations at the conclusion of its work.
