The Northern Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party, has suspended the ongoing polling stations election in Bimbilla and Daboya-Mankaragu Constituencies indefinitely.
The Northern regional Communication Director for the party, Issahaque A. Latif who confirmed the suspension to Adom News said the party arrived at the decision n Sunday following security assessment in the two respective constituencies.

According to him, till the disturbances in the two constituencies are resolved, no elections will be held in the two constituencies.
“As all of us are aware, the Northern Region towns of Bimbilla, Daboya and Mankaragu are currently witnessing chieftaincy and tribal tensions that has led, unfortunately, to the lost of some lives and properties.
The Party therefore thinks it will be proper to postpone all party activities in these towns until calm is restored.”

He said elections in the Nalerigu Gambaga constituency has also been suspended after a petition was referred to the Regional Elections Committee in the region.
“In a similar vein, following series of written petitions and complaints of electoral malpractices and fraud against the current electoral processes in the Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituencies of the Northern Region, the Regional Executive Committee has decided to intervene, and thus, has suspended forthwith the election processes leading to the election of Polling Station Executive and Electoral Area Coordinators in the Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency in order to avert any trouble”, he added.
“The Regional Executive Committee is urging calm among party followers and supporters in the affected constituencies to remain calm as it works to put intervening structures and strategies in place to allow all qualified and interested party people exercise their democratic rights.” he appealed.
