The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned recent verbal attacks on former President John Agyekum Kufuor by Dela Edem, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s National Communications Team and an aide to former President John Mahama.
In a widely circulated video, Dela Edem, speaking on TV XYZ, made disparaging remarks, including calling President Kufuor “evil” and attributing his health condition to a curse.
The comments have sparked outrage, with the NPP describing them as “despicable, shameful, and disgraceful.”
In a statement issued on November 16, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, also known as Nana B, stated:
“These unprovoked attacks on the revered statesman and former president are despicable, shameful, and disgraceful. Accordingly, the NPP condemns them in no uncertain terms.”
The NPP also criticized NDC flagbearer John Mahama for his silence on the matter, urging him to show leadership by taking disciplinary action against Dela Edem.
They further called on Mahama to publicly denounce the remarks and issue an apology to former President Kufuor.
