NPP chairman reacts to Nigeria’s border closure

The Bono Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has reacted to the closure of Nigeria’s border.

According to him, Ghanaian traders have greatly been affected by the closure of the Nigerian borders since most traders import most of their goods from there.

“This is where the issue of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement comes to play, a part of the agreement states that there should be a three month notice to any African country which will be affected by the closure of border,” he said in an interview on UTV, monitored by Adomonline.com.

He said division among African countries and selfishness of some African leaders are affecting the African continent.

“Africa Union (AU) is always preaching for the need for Africans to come together but the truth is we are not each other’s keeper. We are not happy when one African state is doing well unlike some European countries,” he said.

He, therefore, urged African leaders to apply the decisions and the suggestions they make when they meet on bigger platforms.

“We go for meetings, bring up our suggestions and when we disperse to our various countries we do our own thing. This is because everyone knows how they came to power and will do everything to implement their campaign promises before they implement what was discussed at the AU meetings,” Mr Baffoe added.
