The New Patriotic Party(NPP) caucus has petitioned Speaker Alban Bagbin to recall Parliament.
The Speaker on Tuesday, October 22 indefinitely adjourned parliamentary proceedings on Tuesday, October 22 after a tussle over which caucus was to sit on the Majority side of the House.
Speaker Bagbin’s decision has sparked diverse reactions among the rank and file, as important government business is in limbo.
However, the NPP caucus has said that it is important for government business to continue without obstruction, despite the opposition’s tactics, hence the recall.
The petition was signed on behalf of the caucus by its Second Deputy Majority Whip, Alex Tetteh Djornobuah.
Mr Tetteh cited the request for tax exemptions for designated beneficiaries under the One District, One Factory Programme, Ghana Financial Stability Fund, an International Development Association facility of $250,000,000 were some of the urgent businesses for consideration.
