The National Petroleum Authority(NPA) has ruled out any possibility of cheating at gas filling stations in the implementation of the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM).
This, according to NPA is due to the use of automated machines in filling empty cylinders at the various bottling plants.
The Communications Manager of NPA, Mohammed Abdul-Kudus disclosed this on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem programme Tuesday.
“These concerns have come up but we all buy canned products and we don’t doubt the quantity because we know the content is automated. So the cylinders will also be sealed automatically. There will be no human interface to risk cheating.
“There will also be a scale available so if you are in doubt, you can weigh your cylinder to verify the measurement. So we can give the assurance that there is no cause to doubt the quantity,” he explained.
The CRM is to ensure that at least 50 per cent of Ghanaians have access to safe, clean and environmentally-friendly LPG by 2030.
It is also meant to improve access to LPG, improve safety in the distribution of LPG and to increase adoption of LPG.
Additionally, it is a policy shift to stop the unnecessary loss of lives and property, as well as gas filling stations, mostly due to human error.
Despite push back from some stakeholders, Mr Abdul-Kudus has noted the policy is going on smoothly.
