The Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare-Addo, has defended President John Mahama’s appointments, describing them as a true reflection of the party’s structure and vision.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Mr. Opare-Addo acknowledged that not everyone would be satisfied with the appointments but assured party members that the selections were made in the best interest of the party and the country.
“We all know that over 1.5 million people voted for the NDC, but the available appointments are not even up to 100,000. It is clear that not everyone will get an appointment,” he stated.
He further stressed that the leadership remains confident in President Mahama’s ability to make the right choices.
“Everybody in leadership has confidence in President Mahama. These appointments so far are a true reflection of the party,” he added.
His comments come amid growing concerns within the NDC, as some party supporters have openly protested against certain appointments, arguing that some nominees are either undeserving or have past affiliations with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Some disgruntled party members have also expressed disappointment, claiming that Mahama has overlooked some loyal individuals in the appointment process.
However, Opare-Addo has urged party members to remain united and trust the leadership’s judgment in ensuring a strong and effective government.
