Nollywood in mourning as veteran actress passes away

The Nigerian film industry is mourning the loss of veteran actress Nkechi Nweje, who passed away on Friday after a brief illness.

Her death was confirmed on Saturday by film producer Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop.

Ajemba, in an emotional tribute on Instagram, described her passing as shocking and heartbreaking.

He recalled their last conversation and expressed his deep sorrow over the loss.

Nweje was widely known for her exceptional performances in motherly roles in Nollywood films. She starred in several notable productions, including Royal War, Festival of Sorrow, and Coming Back from Congo.

Just a week before her passing, she had premiered her latest film, The Debt, on YouTube.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Azuibuike Nweje, and their six children.

Her death marks a significant loss for Nollywood, leaving colleagues and fans devastated.

Her contribution to the industry and her legacy as a mentor and talented actress will be deeply cherished.
