Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has cautioned football fans and Ghanaians against looking too far ahead to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing that qualification is still a long way off.
Ghana strengthened their position in Group I with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium last Friday in their Matchday 5 fixture.
Tonight, the senior national team will face Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco for their Matchday 6 encounter.
A win against the Barea would further enhance the Black Stars’ chances of securing a spot at the global tournament, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Despite their strong position, Addo, 49, remains cautious, urging his team to stay focused on the immediate task.
“No one should be thinking about the World Cup just yet. We have to take it one step at a time. It’s crucial that we stay focused until the job is done,” he stated.
Ghana currently tops Group I with 12 points, holding a slight edge over second-placed Madagascar, who have 10 points.
The four-time African champions are determined to secure their fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, but Addo insists that the journey is far from over.
