A member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, Nana Oduro Sarfo, has firmly stated that they will not succumb to public pressure to dismiss Black Stars coach Otto Addo.
Addo, 49, who was reappointed on a three-year contract with an option for an additional two years, has faced heavy criticism after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the first time in two decades that they have missed out.
The team’s poor performance, with three draws and three losses, saw them finish last in Group F with just three points. As a result, many have called for his departure.
However, the GFA has bolstered the Black Stars’ technical staff ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will resume in March.
Despite the pressure to let Addo go, Oduro Sarfo, in an interview with Guide Radio, emphasized that they will not be swayed by public opinion.
“We will not allow anybody to put pressure on us to sack Otto Addo,” he said.
Meanwhile, German coach Winfried Schaffer has been appointed as the Black Stars’ technical advisor.
Additionally, Desmond Offei, the head coach of Ghana’s U20 team, has been promoted to the senior national team’s technical bench as an assistant coach, replacing German Joseph Laumann.
Offei will work alongside assistants John Paintsil and Fatawu Dauda, who will remain in their positions under Addo.
Kris Perquy will serve as the team’s psychologist, and Gregory De Grauwe will take on the role of video analyst.
