Former captain of Accra Hearts of Oak, Amankwah Mireku, has added his voice to the call for more matured players to be recruited by the management of the club.

According to Mireku, the club [Hearts of Oak] is not a grooming grounds for young players.

Speaking on the Ultimate Sports Show, he praised Fatawu Mohammed for pointing out the major problem facing the club in recent times, saying he believes he spoke like a good leader.

Fatawu Mohammed had called on management through a media interview to recruit mature players after the team lost 2-1 in a friendly at Swerdu last Sunday.

“Fatawu Mohammed spoke very well like the leader that he is and he said it all. Hearts of Oak lack matured players who can play well”, Amankwa Mireku said in praise of Fatawu.

The former Pure Joy player explained that Hearts of Oak was not a ground for grooming young players because fans are not patient enough to go through the process.

He was however quick to add that some young players are equally matured and have the mental toughness for a big club like Hearts of Oak but they need not be the majority.
