A former Minister for Works and Housing under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, says no single person can unite the party.
Speaking on JoyPrime’s Prime Morning Show on Wednesday, Oppong Nkrumah stressed that the challenges facing the NPP require a collective effort from all members, not an individual effort.
“I don’t think any single person can bring the party together. Anybody going around saying he is going to bring the party together should stop saying it,” he said when asked about the ongoing disagreement between the party and Adwoa Safo, and the General Secretary’s promise to unite the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
He emphasised the need for collaboration to rebuild and strengthen the party.
“All of us must understand that we have to collectively work together,” he stated.
The Ofoase-Ayirebi MP further noted that discipline must be upheld among party members despite their differences.
“In politics, you don’t need to like one another or be friends to work together. We must understand that the success of a political enterprise lies in our ability to come together and work together.”
He added that healing divisions and undertaking reforms are essential if the NPP is to remain competitive in future elections.
“We have to heal wounds, we have to reform as a party,” he concluded.
