No security recruitments yet – Minister denies allegations, warns against illegal payments

-

The Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, has said they have not began recruitment into the security service.

He described as false claims by the Minority in Parliament that, they are recruiting 11,000 people

The Minister, who was speaking at a press interaction after exchanging words on the floor of parliament with the Minority whip, Governs Kwame Agbodza, addressed the concerns.

The Minority had inquired from the Minister as to why recruitment into the services was shrouded in secrecy.

Mr. Quartey explained that there is “no recruitment into the services” and that the public and “innocent Ghanaians ought not to pay any money to anybody under the disguise of getting them into the services.”

On the backlog argument given as the reason for the recruitment, the Interior Minister argued that “it doesn’t make sense for Ghanaian youth to continue buying forms into the services while people who had applied online and some who have qualified continue to have their cards but have not entered.”

Speaking of the standards and criteria set by previous years, especially regarding ages and medicals, the Minister told the media that once the applicant does not fall within the requirements, it disqualifies the applicant.
