Ghana witnessed a nationwide blackout on Wednesday night.
The lights went off around 9pm.
As of Thursday morning, several parts of the country are still without power.
But speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Thursday, the Public Relations Officer for the for ECG William Boateng said they lost the feed from GRIDCO unexpectedly adding that there is no return of dumsor.
“We lost the feed from GRIDCO around 9:51, but as I talk to you, we have started picking load and so some areas have power.
Meanwhile, GRIDCO boss, William Amuna said: “there was a surge of power around 9:40pm last night; we loss many generators across the country. As a consequence, we lost supply to most parts of the country.”
“It was around 9.40 pm and we started the restoration programme till about 1 am when we were above 1,000 megawatts and there was a swing in the power system again and we lost some generation again and currently we are in the process of restoring,” he added
He however promised, power should be available in three hours.
