No one forced you to say ‘I’ll change Ghana in 18 months’ – A Plus fires Akufo-Addo

-

New Patriotic Party (NPP) member and controversial musician Kwame A Plus has fired President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, asking him whether he was lying when he promised to change Ghana in 18 months.

A Plus also attacked NPP members who say Ghanaians are being impatient with the President.

Readers will recall in August 2016 that President Akufo-Addo vowed to change Ghana in 18 months when elected president.

“I am promising you that within 18 months of a new government of the NPP, under my leadership, the face of our country, Ghana, is going to change. We are going to get out of stagnation and backwardness and move our country onto the path of progress and prosperity. We can do it. We, the Ghanaian people, have the capacity to change the circumstances of our lives.”

These were the words of the 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at the Jubilee Park when he addressed a mammoth gathering at the NPP’s Northern Regional Rally.

This ‘new Ghana’, according to Nana Akufo-Addo, will be “a Ghana with opportunities for all, no family and friends, tribalism etc; a Ghana where everybody is taken care off.”

“We will have a society that is caring and compassionate and expresses solidarity. Nobody is going to be left behind. We are all going to march together, hands linked together, to that great future that beckons us, here in Ghana.” he promised.

But Kwame APlus who supported the President appears unhappy with the slow pace of things, and also with how NPP members respond to criticisms.

A Plus posted, “When people ask for the change, NPP communicators say it’s too early. Ghanaians are inpatient. It’s only 18 months.”

He continued: “Did Nana Addo say he’ll change Ghana in 300 years? Did any Ghanaian force him to make that promise? If you take Nana serious and believe him when he speaks like I do, you’ll ask why the change has not happened. Unless at the time of making that promise you knew that he was lying…”
