The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring peace and stability during the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, emphasizing that no military personnel will be stationed at polling stations.
According to GAF, its role will be limited to standby support, with the Ghana Police Service (GPS) holding primary responsibility for election security.
Military deployment will only occur at the request of the police to maintain order if necessary.
In a bid to ensure transparency and prevent confusion, GAF has urged the public to report any individual posing as a military officer or wearing military-patterned attire at polling stations to the nearest police station or via the GPS toll-free numbers: 18555 or 0800 311 311.
The Armed Forces encouraged Ghanaians to exercise their civic responsibilities peacefully and cooperate with security personnel.
It reiterated its commitment to safeguarding national stability and upholding the integrity of the election process.
