The Defence Minister-designate has reassured Ghanaians that there should be no concerns regarding his impartiality in his new role.

Speaking before the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, January 28, Dr. Omane Boamah responded to questions about his previous position as Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which raised questions about potential conflicts of interest.

“No Ghanaian should have any fear about my impartiality,” Dr. Omane Boamah said confidently. “In fact, I can be the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) and I will be impartial. I am committed to serving Ghana with fairness and integrity.”

He went on to explain that his role with the NDC was strictly confined to elections, and that he had concluded his duties after the election period.

Dr. Omane Boamah further clarified his stance by stating, “I took up the job of IT and Elections for the NDC, and after the elections, I told them my job was over. I am no longer involved in any political party activities.”

This clarification aimed to dispel any concerns regarding his ability to serve impartially as Defence Minister.

He concluded by assuring the committee and the public that his focus would be solely on the duties of his new role.

“I am here to serve the people of Ghana, and I will do so without any political bias or agenda,” he affirmed, reinforcing his commitment to fairness in his new position.
