No Ghanaian blood is worth political power- Mahama

-

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has said that no political goal is worth the loss of a single Ghanaian life.

In this regard, the former President has vowed to ensure a peaceful Ghana before, during and after the December 7 election.

Mr Mahama was speaking at the 31st Biennial General Council meeting of the Assemblies of God Church in the Upper East Region.

“Indeed, we should not continue to think that it is a mere coincidence that Ghana continues to be an oasis of peace. It is the intercession of the men and women of God that has kept our country safe and secure. So, as we go into another election year, often, there is a general sense of apprehension that something would go on,” he said.

He noted that, the stability in Ghana is not just luck but the result of the prayers and efforts of religious leaders.

“As a member of your church, I can assure and pledge that I’m a person of peace and if there is any violence, it won’t come from me. I would do everything to ensure that Ghana remains peaceful because if you resort to violence, it is the same people you are coming to govern. So I don’t think that even a single drop of a Ghanaian’s blood is worth political power or coming into office. I give you that assurance,” he pledged.
