After investigations into the Airbus bribery scandal, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has disclosed that there was no evidence to establish that former President John Mahama played any role.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng disclosed this at a press briefing on Thursday while giving updates on the case.
He, however, confirmed Mr Mahama as the Government Official 1 in the Airbus Scandal and his brother, Samuel Mahama, as intermediary 5.
Former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu commenced investigations in 2020 into an agreement during Mahama’s administration to procure two military transport aircraft from Airbus for the Ghana Armed Forces.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer and his brother were alleged to be entangled in the scandal.
A UK court heard charges against Samuel Adam Mahama Foster and his UK friends in the Airbus SE-Ghana case and issued an arrest warrant for them, resulting in an INTERPOL Red Notice.
But giving a brief overview of the OSP’s investigations, Mr Agyebeng noted no corruption offence was found against Mr Mahama.
