No deaths occured in students’ clash – Management

Management of the University of Ghana, on Tuesday, confirmed that no one died as a result of clashes between the students of the University and others believed to be from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
“Management would like to confirm that no deaths have occurred as a result of the incident, contrary to earlier media reports,” a statement signed by Ms Stella A. Amoa, the Director of Public Affairs of the University, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said.

It said the University Hospital had reported that as a result of the incident, one student received medical attention as an out-patient.
It said the University was conducting its own investigations into the matter without prejudice to any action taken by the Police, and any acts of violation of the University rules and regulations would be dealt with accordingly.

The statement said fuller details would be provided as soon as Management received the Police Report.
It said the incident occurred on Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Legon Campus of the University of Ghana adding that the University Security moved straight into action to quell the clashes and ensure law and order.
“They received reinforcement from the Ghana Police who are currently investigating the matter,” the statement said.
