Head Coach of the senior national team, Kwesi Appiah has reiterated that he has no captaincy issues in the black stars team.
Kwesi Appiah took charge of the black stars for a second time, after a six-member committee came to the conclusion that 56-year-old who was in charge of the side between 2012 and 2014, is the right man to help the national side move on from their disappointing Nations Cup campaign in Gabon.
Appiah also became the first indigenous coach to qualify the Black Stars for the World Cup when he took them the tournament 2014.
In an interview with Metro TV, the former Black stars captain stated that Asamoah Gyan is the captain of the team and until he says otherwise, Gyan will continue to lead the team.
He further opined that, “Everyone plays a captaincy role in the black stars. Captaincy role is not all about having an arm band around your arms, it’s more than that”.
“I tell all my defenders to play a captaincy role, same for my mid fielders ,strikers etc.
For me ,everybody plays a captaincy role on the field”.
“When the going gets tough, the players should be able to push each other ,it shouldn’t just be one person doing everything on the pitch’’.
Kwesi Appiah signed a two-year contract as coach of the Black Stars upon his return.
