The Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South in the Oti Region, Geoffrey Kini, has issued a stern warning to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over the ongoing power crisis affecting the country.
He expressed deep concerns that the frequent power outages are disrupting citizens’ daily lives and threatening the government’s efforts to foster economic growth and stability.
In an interview with Adom News, MP Kini criticized ECG for its failure to effectively manage power distribution, which has led to widespread frustration, especially among constituents who rely on consistent electricity for their businesses and livelihoods.
He accused the company of potentially sabotaging the government’s energy sector initiatives through its inefficiency.
Kini called on ECG to take immediate action, urging the company to prioritize infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.
He also called for greater transparency in ECG’s operations and improved communication with the public regarding the causes of the outages.
“The people of Nkwanta South deserve better,” Kini said, emphasizing that ECG’s inefficiencies could undermine public trust in the government’s efforts to resolve the crisis.
