In a bid to enhance the trading environment and promote cleanliness, the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly has organized a community clean-up exercise to launch market day on Thursdays.
Currently, the market day for the municipal capital is Monday, which has been a hindrance to the Assembly’s efforts to generate more revenue to support area development.
This initiative aims to prepare the women’s market for increased patronage and to promote a healthier environment for traders and shoppers alike.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Felix Owusu-Gyimah, spearheaded the clean-up exercise, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders, including traders, community members, and government agencies.
According to him, for this initiative to be successful, residents must work together effectively.
He said the exercise not only aimed to beautify the market but also to instill a sense of responsibility among community members regarding waste management.
Mr. Owusu-Gyimah expressed gratitude to all volunteers for their dedication and hard work, noting that a clean market environment would attract more customers and boost local businesses.
Some market women and residents who spoke to Adom News’ Obrempongba Kwame Owusu , expressed their gratitude to the MCE for the initiative, noting that a clean market would attract more customers and boost sales.
The residents appreciate the efforts of the Assembly in organizing this clean-up in the market as essential for their business and are committed to maintaining the standard.
