Joy and celebration have returned to Nkoranza as Nana Kwame Baffoe IV has been re-sworn in as the Omanhene, bringing an end to a seven-year chieftaincy dispute.
In a grand traditional ceremony witnessed by kingmakers and residents, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV took the oath of office, signaling a new era of unity and progress for the Nkoranza Traditional Area.
The dispute, which began following the death of the late Omanhene, Okatakyi Agyemang Kudom, in 2016, was prolonged by disagreements over succession.
Initial controversies surrounding Nana Kwame Baffoe IV’s enrollment in 2021, including opposition from the late queen mother and other kingmakers, fueled unrest in the area.
However, his gazetting and eventual acceptance by the House of Chiefs have now united the stakeholders, resolving the longstanding conflict.
In his inaugural address, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV emphasized the importance of reconciliation and urged his subjects to move beyond past differences.
He pledged to focus on development and growth, noting that the seven-year dispute had stalled progress in Nkoranza.
“Unity is key to the development of Nkoranza. Let us put aside our differences and work together to bring growth and prosperity to our land,” he urged.
Nana Effah Adomako, the Akyemehene of the Nkoranza Traditional Council, welcomed the resolution of the dispute, expressing optimism about the area’s future under Nana Kwame Baffoe IV’s leadership.
“This marks a new chapter for Nkoranza, one of stability, unity, and development. We trust that the new Omanhene will settle all lingering issues and lead the area toward progress,” he stated.
