Former Defense Minister and Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul, has raised concerns about the alleged use of military personnel to intimidate citizens, including himself.
Speaking in Parliament on February 12, Nitiwul expressed worry over the presence of armed soldiers monitoring his activities, describing it as a threat to Ghana’s democracy.
“They are using soldiers to intimidate Ghanaians, including myself, and that is not democracy,” he stated.
His concerns follow a military operation at the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, which has sparked public debate over its political implications.
The incident has raised questions about the use of state security in political affairs.
While the government has yet to extensively address the situation, critics, including former officials, warn that it could signal an alarming trend of military involvement in politics.
