Nigerians have taken to social media to troll First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari, over her comments to have social media in the West African country regulated.

Mrs Buhari, speaking at the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs General Assembly and National Executive Council Meeting over the weekend, said social media use in the country ought to be regulated before it gets out of hand.

“If China can control over 1.3 billion people on social media, I see no reason why Nigeria cannot attempt controlling only 180 million people. We should either fasten our seatbelt, get up and do the needful or we will all regret it very soon,” she said.

But her comments seemed not to have gone down well with some Nigerians, as most of them took to social media to tell the First Lady a little piece of their mind.

Her statement comes on the back of a proposed social media bill which is being discussed in the Nigerian Senate.
